SPBD is a network of microfinance organizations working in Fiji, Samoa and Tonga, and Solomon Islands dedicated to eradicating poverty by empowering women in poor rural villages with the opportunity to start, grow and maintain sustainable, income generating micro-enterprises.

Vice President

James leads the financial planning, modeling, reporting and control activity of the emerging SPBD microfinance network in the South Pacific (Samoa, Tonga, and Fiji). He is responsible for developing the treasury strategies for SPBD Microfinance Holdings (Singapore) LLC and business planning strategies and capital raising for all SPBD replications.

Before SPBD, he worked on Wall Street for 8 years at Banc Of America Securities LLC as Vice President in US Institutional Equity Sales generating approximately US$8 Million annually working closely with capital markets, hedge funds and mutual funds.

In order to make the jump into Microfinance, he worked on a project basis with Grassroots Capital and BlueOrchard Finance S.A. in New York in 2008 and 2009. His assignments ranged from portfolio and holding company models, to investment recommendations, marketing and capital raising.

After living and studying in Belgium and England, he received an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Rice University Jesse H. Jones School of Business in Texas, USA. While there he played Varsity Tennis for a year in Division 1. He is a CFA Charterholder (Chartered Financial Analyst) since 2009 and is Vice-Chair of the Sustainable Investment Committee at the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA). He speaks fluent Dutch and intermediate French and Spanish.
